AlloFlo™ Uveo

The AlloFlo™ Uveo procedure is a modern, minimally invasive glaucoma treatment designed to help lower eye pressure and protect vision in people with glaucoma. It works by enhancing the eye’s natural drainage system, allowing excess fluid to leave the eye more efficiently.

How the procedure works

Inside the eye, a clear fluid called aqueous humor is constantly being produced and drained. When this fluid does not drain properly, pressure builds up and can damage the optic nerve.

The AlloFlo™ Uveo procedure improves drainage through a pathway known as the uveoscleral outflow route; one of the eye’s natural pressure-relief systems. During the procedure, your surgeon carefully places a soft, biologic implant made from donated human scleral eye tissue into a specific space within the eye. This implant gently supports fluid movement out of the eye, helping lower pressure in a controlled and steady way.

Because the implant is made from natural human tissue, it is designed to integrate smoothly with your eye and does not involve mechanical valves or moving parts.

What Makes AlloFlo™ Uveo Different

  • Minimally invasive – Performed through a very small incision
  • Uses natural tissue – Designed to work in harmony with your eye
  • Preserves eye anatomy – Does not remove or destroy healthy tissue
  • Can reduce reliance on drops – Many patients need fewer glaucoma medications afterward

What to Expect During the Procedure

The procedure is typically done in an outpatient surgical setting. Most patients receive light sedation and local anesthesia, so the eye is comfortable throughout. You will go home the same day.

Recovery and Aftercare

Recovery is generally quicker than with traditional glaucoma surgeries such as trabeculectomy or tube shunts. Vision may be blurry for a short time

  • Mild irritation or redness is common early on
  • Eye drops are used temporarily to promote healing
  • Most patients return to normal activities within days

Your doctor will monitor eye pressure closely during follow-up visits to ensure the procedure is working as intended.

Your glaucoma specialist will determine whether AlloFlo™ Uveo is appropriate based on your eye anatomy, pressure goals, and overall eye health.
